What is the Help! Ministry?
Occasionally, some of us may need a hand now and then with practical needs, such as lawn care, maintenance, moving, etc. Caring for one another is at the heart of our faith in Christ, who commands us to love one another. In Galatians 6:2, we are encouraged to “carry each other’s burdens and in this way fulfill the law of Christ.”
“Therefore, as we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, especially to those who belong to the family of believers.” Galatians 6:10
Our church family-especially older members, widows, and single persons- may find that they are not able to accomplish what needs to be done. That’s where we need to come alongside and give a hand, whether with actual help or referring the person to those who can assist.
Who can receive help from this ministry? The Help! Ministry will try to assist anyone in our church family who finds that they have a practical need that they can’t take care of themselves and are unable to hire help. The ministry is not meant to be a solution or resource for an ongoing need.
What will happen after I ask for help? Someone will contact you to make arrangements for a volunteer to respond.
What if I have others who can help me? We encourage family unity and members to help each other (see 1 Timothy 5:4,8). We will remind those asking for help to give their family members an opportunity to show care, while also realizing that this is not always possible.
Volunteering to Help!
Who will help those who request help? The ability to help those with needs is totally dependent upon caring volunteers like YOU. Your skills and gifts are needed.
What will happen if I volunteer, but can’t help when called on? When you sign up as a volunteer, your name will be placed on a call list when a particular need arises. Signing-up does not mean you will always be expected to help, but you may be called on when a need arises to see if you are available.
